hi niza! agnes, i love your expressive little stories, hon! i was just thinking if there might be a french edition of the book but sacks has some pretty nice vids on the site where he talks about music and illness, amnesia, and moods. i just listened to your dernis rossos link too and his voice sends shivers up my spine. so hauntingly beautiful. that's great about stevie wonder as he is blind but is able to feel and see through music as his life force and passion just the way i see keane doing too. this has me thinking of debussey since he worked so much with hypersensitivity and moods in his music and is so influential across the board b/c of this. i think it's great to see keane and so many other artists support this cause for music therapy. have a great day and stay warm, dear agnes!

Ok Lord, thanks and I found some excerpts of the book on www.musicophilia.com !... I know there are also several other books on the topic, especially from Daniel LEVITIN who's a scientist and a musician too. He worked with Stevie WONDER and said about him : "Stevie is very sensitive to his audience : for him doing music is not a matter of money"... Just as ♥KEANE♥ !... Maybe I should try to read one of their books but, finally, I'm afraid that all of this is a little bit too scientific for my birdbrain... Plus, I don't know if there are some publishings translated in French (despite that trying to read in English would be yet an excellent training !)... But you know, I'm an arrant lazy that I'd better first find a book about how to cope to a measly life when you're bone idle !... And about sweet laziness, today there's a dreadful weather (weather forecast is appealing to alertness) in Southern France that makes you want to stay warm under the duvet... Please, don't take this as idea to make a vid and a nice day to everyone, anyway !!!

Thanks Lord !... By the way, this passionate relationship between brain and music is so mysterious and Very Interesting Indeed... Past week, there was a documentary broadcasted on French TV about the effect of music on the brain... I think it was something like "The Musical Brain" a program broadcasted on a Canadian channel and whereof I was talking about few months ago... Given that the doc was aired to a rather belated hour, I'd planned to watch it coming back from the Cinema but then I felt asleep like a log on the armchair and finally I have seen nothing at all... Then actually, there's no point in talking about it, other than to say it's a pity that I missed it again :( I would have liked so much to watch it !!!...

lovely story, agnes! music is indeed powerful, dear jiwon. tulaferl that is great that you studied music therapy! my brother does music performance and b/c of the lack of programs he could only study this through the more technical route in music acoustics but he eventually squeezed in the psychoacoustics aspects of music therapy. good luck to you in your field! :)

Very Recently Indeed and as good example about music and emotion, something has made me burst into tears when Gudrun (thank you !) has mentioned the name of Demis ROUSSOS because I remembered my mother was fond of the song Forever And Ever with this sweet flonflon and so on... So then I listened to it and plus, when seeing the vinyl's jacket, I've been snowed under with souvenirs from this era... Then, I literally cried a river thinking about her... I am SO glad that Keane is doing this!! I used to be a music therapy major in college and the school that I went to was the only one in the entire state to offer it. Now they don't have it anymore because of a lack of support for the program. Thank you Keane for acknowledging its importance!! :)
