Album debuts at Number 4 in US
29 June 2006
Things going well on both sides of the Atlantic.
It was announced yesterday that 'Under The Iron Sea' has debuted at Number 4 in the US Billboard 200 chart. Stats fans might like to know that's 169 places than 'Hopes And Fears' managed in its first week and 41 places higher than the peak position it eventually reached.
We've just received this comment from Mr Tim Rice-Oxley...
"It's incredible news. We're so proud of this record, and it's unbelievably exciting to see it making such a huge impact over here in the States. When we were kids we used to read about The Beatles coming over here, to the land that invented rock'n'roll, and we used to dream of having a hit record in America.
"This has been the most exciting few weeks of our existence as a band, and for 'Under The Iron Sea' to go straight in to the Top 5 of the Billboard chart is the icing on the cake. It's going to be a great year."
